I like that this post compliments the instagram reels you sometimes post and that I enjoy the most. Being someone who wishes I had the confidence to develop artistic talent even in small measure, reading about your experience moving through a painting and then seeing the stages in video helps me to understand a bit more of your craft. I’m so glad you have been cultivating a social media presence and that I get to participate as an observer.
Thanks for taking the time to share this. It means a lot to know the videos and posts connect in that way. I try to keep the process honest, what it actually feels like to move through a piece, so hearing that it adds something to your experience makes the whole effort feel worthwhile. I’m really glad you’re part of this. ☺
I love the two paintings I have of yours. I can look at them for hours, envisioning being there, seeing that. Thank you for sharing your thought process with us! I can feel it in your works.
Thanks, Carol. That means a lot to me. Knowing you still spend time with the paintings and feel connected to the places in them, that’s exactly what I hope for when I paint. I’m truly grateful for your support over the years and your continued kind words.
Your easel set up is a work of art in itself, Jeff - I particularly like the colourful double-loaded hair dryers and spritzer ready for action 😉
I loved reading about your process, including the dreaded middle bit - I cannot tell you how many paintings I abandoned before understanding the need to stay with it! Your work is full of natural movement, and the layers and applications give such richness of depth. Your willingness to let things unfold at their own pace produces such uniquely beautiful pieces. I'm inspired.
Thanks, Linda. Your comment really made me smile. The colourful double-loaded hair dryers are definitely ready for action, and they allow me to do other things while the painting is drying. This is to ensure that I don't stamp wet paint with my hand. I appreciated hearing your thoughts on the dreaded middle bit. It took me years to realize the value of pushing through instead of walking away. I’m glad the movement and layers spoke to you. Looking forward to sharing more.
There is an incredible sense of movement in your work. Very dynamic, very beautiful. And the sense of connection - not just with the natural elements (between each other in the painting), but drawing the viewer into it so they realize they are part of it all.
Thank you. That’s exactly what I hope for that the viewer feels part of the scene, not just looking at it. The connection between the elements and the person standing in front of the painting matters deeply to me. I’m glad that came through. Thank you again ☺
Your beautiful paintings do indeed evoke the subtle, magical movements of nature. It’s fascinating to hear about your thought processes as you’re working. 🌾
Thanks, Karen. That means a lot. I try to pay close attention to how things shift in nature quiet movements, changing light and bring that into the studio with me. I’m glad the work connects with you. ☺

Our connection to nature is a subject that deeply matters to me in our evolution as human beings.
I feel the same. That connection is something I try to honour in every painting it keeps us grounded in what really matters.
